ON THE DAY.

My home studio is located at the side of my house.

Fernleigh Holly Hill Road

Cannock Wood

Rugeley

WS15 4SD

An apple satnav may take you to a gated lane called "The Croft" or "Fairview Farm". Please ignore this, carry on up the hill slightly and my house is on the left. You can see my house from the road.

I have brown gates which will be open for you. Please park on the driveway and you'll see my studio with the black French doors.

Before your newborn session

How it works

When your little one arrives please get in touch so we can confirm your appointment or reschedule if needed.

How long does the session last?

Your session will last around 2-3 hours, this leaves time for settling and any additional feeding.

I always schedule sibling & family shots at the end of the session, please try to arrange for any siblings to be dropped off towards the end of the session

Suggestions for what to wear?

Mom | A simple dress or top with jeans in neutral creamy tones is absolutely perfect!

Dad | A button shirt in pastel colours or a plain white t shirt.

Siblings | For a boy a simple top similar to Dad's with neutral color trousers or jeans. For a girl a simple white, pink or cream dress.

Food & snacks

You are welcome to order Uber eats and eat at the studio. I provide snacks, water & hot drinks.

You are also welcome to bring your own snacks.

Here are a few things that can help keep baby settled during their first newborn session. Please don't worry if you are not able to do them.

Once you arrive at the studio I will do my best to soothe baby.

  1. Please give baby a bath in the morning before coming in for your session. This will stimulate baby and help baby tire out. Lotioning your baby after the bath will also help with pressure points and relaxation. Allowing your baby to kick and be free for around 10-15 minutes will also help tire them out.
  2. Dress baby in a zip/button up baby grow.. NO vest please! We do not want any clothing we have to pull over top of the baby's head.
  3. Before you leave the house for your session, please try to feed baby. This will allow baby to fall into a deep sleep while you are driving to the studio. Depending on how long your drive is baby may need to feed when you arrive. I generally like to start as soon as possible so that your preparations are not wasted. (If your journey is 30 mins plus please contact me for information)
  4. Let your baby have tummy/naked time, they enjoy kicking around and this will help them get into a deeper sleep for the session.

What to bring for your baby..

  • Nappies/wipes
  • Extra milk!
  • Any sentimental teddies/blankets you'd like adding to a set up

I’m so looking forward to welcoming you and your little one to their newborn session. I just wanted to gently mention that bringing a dummy along can be an incredibly helpful tool during the shoot. Newborn sessions involve carefully posing and lightly adjusting your baby’s position, and all that gentle movement can sometimes stimulate their feeding reflex and make them feel hungry or unsettled. A dummy can provide comfort in those moments and help us achieve a beautiful variety of images for your full gallery.

Of course, I will always respect your preferences and will do my very best to settle your baby without one if that’s important to you. However, I do recommend having a dummy available just in case, as it can make a real difference to the flow of the session. If you haven’t introduced one yet, please don’t worry — I do have dummies at the studio that are brand new pre-sterilised and ready to use if needed. They are only used during the session to help soothe and settle, and your baby won’t remember the experience at all.

Thank you very much for taking your time to read this guide. Keeping to these points really helps your session run smoothly.
